Newsquest South London Sponsor

Newsquest South London is delighted to announce that British Gas is the headline sponsor for its ground-breaking Green Guardian environmental campaign in 2007.

After a phenomenally successful first year in south west London, this partnership ensures that the campaign will roll out across south east London this year, reaching over a million readers through its South London Guardian and News Shopper series.

Newsquest is particularly glad to have British Gas as its primary sponsor partner this year.

In addition to substantial financial support, its energy expertise and close relationship with millions of customers in London will be of great benefit to the project.

It will help fund a dedicated environmental page in our weekly newspapers, as well as an outstanding website - www.greenguardian.co.uk - which has been relaunched this week after a major redesign.

And its support will enable the Green Guardian environmental awards to be run across the area at both a borough and regional level - recoignising and rewarding the efforts of everyone from businesses and schools to pensioners and green campaigners.

Howard Scott, Managing Director of Newsquest South London said: “We are very proud that British Gas has chosen to work with us to help people do more to protect the environment. This is a unique campaign, with partnership at its heart, which links together local councils, businesses, organisations, households and individuals for a common cause. Our closeness to the communities we serve provides us with the ability, and the moral obligation, to play a leading role in motivating people to move to a more environmentally sustainable lifestyle.”

Andrew Reaney, Head of Retention, Customer Marketing and Regions at British Gas, said: Andrew Reaney, Head of Retention, Customer Marketing and Regions at British Gas, said: "We are delighted to sponsor the Green Guardian campaign and are committed to using our energy expertise to help Londoners make a positive impact both at home and in the community through greater energy efficiency. It's important as a responsible leading energy supplier to do our bit to raise awareness of the energy efficiency actions we can all take to make a difference."
