R H Technical Industries (RHTI) are a screen printing company who use all types of plastic substrate. They produce a number of specialist items for corporate customers. It was pressure from one of these customers that prompted them to achieve certification to ISO 14001 in June 2000.

One of the objectives of RHTI’s system was to reduce the amount of waste produced and sent to landfill. One aspect of this was to change the disposable wipes used in the screen preparation process to a reusable material.

Through their monitoring and measurement, RHTI identified a small procedural change in turning off machines which resulted in visible energy savings. RHTI found that savings and improvements need to be monitored and documented, and that along with measurement statistics, photos are a good recording mechanism.
