South East London Transport Strategy (Seltrans) was established in 1998 as a partnership between seven southeast London boroughs, transport providers and operators, and groups representing the interests of businesses and passengers.

The broadest objective of Seltrans is to find ways in which an integrated transport system can help enhance London's economic prosperity, environment, promote social inclusion and the quality of life of Londoners.

Seltrans work with businesses and organisations across the region encouraging them to develop travel plans and think about the way they travel. They offer a number of incentives and grants for those working on a travel plan. These include:

• Up to £5000 match funding
• Up to 20 free cycle stands
• 40% off Pool Bikes
• Free advice and support

A Travel Plan is a transport management process, which looks at all the possible measures to improve transport choices and reduce single car occupancy. It looks at aspects such as home working, teleconferencing, commuting issues, flexible working, fleet operation and marketing.

The team are currently working with over 80 businesses and organisations across the region making it a key player in the sustainable transport sector in London.

In addition to the work with businesses Seltrans is running the BISTRO project. BISTRO (Biodiesel Initiative for Sustainable Transport from Recycled Oil) is a five-year project that will collect used cooking oil from the SELTRANS boroughs used cooking oil outlets (restaurants, cafes, fish and chip shops, etc.) and then refine and convert it into biodiesel.

The new London environmental support service (LESS) will help get our service known to a wider audience and it will be useful to work with partners in similar environmental fields on joint projects.  It will be an invaluable network and service that we can offer our clients across the Seltrans region saving our clients time and money.
