Ryecroft Foods Ltd. received a free waste audit and have taken several actions to improve their environmental performance resulting in savings of £4,093 p.a. from recycling.

   

Cardboard Recycling

  • All cardboard, which amounts to 8 tonnes per month, is baled and recycled.
  • Due to the cardboard being clean and in large quantities Ryecroft are able to earn revenue for this.
  • It is currently sold for £23 per tonne raising £2,208 per year.

        

Plastic Recycling

  • Plastic wrap was previously sent to landfill but is now sold for recycling.
  • Plastic vending cups were previously sent to landfill and are now recycled.
  • The plastic wrap raises £485 per year in revenue.
  • The vending cups are collected free of charge helping reduce the volume of waste sent to landfill.
  • Combined, the plastic wrap and the cup schemes will divert 12.2 tonnes from landfill and save £1,400 in waste disposal costs each year.

Other Recycling

  • Fluorescent tubes are collected in a container for recycling.
  • Toner cartridges are recycled.
  • Some waste paper is used for packaging.
  • Scrap metal is collected for recycling.
  • Shredding and composting green waste produced on site is being considered.
