London is a noisy city.

Much of London’s noise is ambient noise which is mostly generated from transport and industry.  In order to tackle this, the Mayor has set out a long-term plan for London – Ambient Noise Strategy, ‘Sounder City’.  The plan involves: better management of transport systems, better town planning and better design of buildings.

Noise is one of the biggest sources of complaints with regards to environmental pollution as it can affect the atmosphere in the workplace and affect neighbouring premises.  This form of pollution can sometimes be difficult to deal with as it is highly subjective. 

As a small business you could be also contributing to the overall noise in London.

Currently businesses must comply with legislation relating to the various forms of nuisances or face being penalised.  But this isn’t the only thing you can do.  By implementing some simple guidelines to keep the noise down you can benefit your employees and your relationships with local residents and other businesses.
